I found The Levelheaded Investor simple, easy to follow and well laid out. What I particularly like is the compass, it’s a great way to explain things and it’s all colour coded throughout the book, making it super easy to follow and refer back to. I also found the section on ‘working with a financial advisor’ really useful, as it asks some important questions including ‘Are you right for an Advisor’ and then goes on to look at choosing an advisor with a due diligence checklist. Well written, very practical and useful and I would highly recommend.

A brilliant book by Michael. I think most people can be put off by jargon and people making things sound more complicated than they need to be. Michael does a great job breaking down powerful financial concepts and explaining them simply. The book is segmented into different sections. The beginning of the book importantly focuses much more on helping the reader determine and asses their life goals, their values, and the dream life they want to live. Once the plan is there, then the finances are simply there to make it a reality, and the investing decisions are made to drive the returns needed for the plan. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to know more about investing, of course, but more importantly in my opinion, knowing more about mapping out the life they want and ensuring the financial decisions they make can support that. 5 stars.

It’s clearly written, thankfully jargon free and follows a simple structure. This book takes the jigsaw pieces and shows you how to complete the picture - it can be daunting starting the process and creating a financial plan, but don’t put it off and leave your financial future to chance, having one can literally change your life. The book steps you through the key phases - want, plan, invest and behave, with a simple to follow compass. As the book says to have a destination you need a beginning, and this book should be your beginning.

This books is very useful, not only for the starting investor, but also for those with more experience. The author takes the reader through a well-designed path, dealing with understanding why one wants to invest, what's important to consider, having a vision and from there on planning the investments and what to watch out for. It is easy to read, and not filled with jargon, like so many other books about financing and investing.
