This book can be read and understood by people at all levels. However clever you are you can also benefit by asking yourself whether you are doing the basics and understanding that money matters are heavily intertwined with emotions, attitudes and personality. This is not just like reading numbers. The author carved through your pretence and delusion with straight taking, reality and humour. It is written for the British side of the pond so no talk of 401k’s etc to confuse the reader. It gives special attention to female readers as they may need to support children, work less, experience lower pay and have a longer old age. The author understands how money is connected to the realities of ordinary life and the struggle to keep your head above water.

Consciously matey writing style and the gleeful unnecessary swearing of 12 year olds trying to impress each other, but there is some sound advice in this book. If you’re the kind of person who still laughs at the packaging of Innocent™️ smoothies, this will be right up your alley. Of note is that it mentions resources on a linked website. This is now a subscription website the author runs (taking their own advice about side hustles) so isn’t accessible simply by dint of having bought the book, if it ever was.

Just started it last night. Went from 2am to 4am in the space of 5min I was submerged. Reading the book I’ve already found some helpful guidance to start using my money wisely. Writer adds a lot of adult humour throughout the book so instead reading it like you’re being told off it feels like you’re chatting with a friend who actually knows how to be in charge of your own money and financial freedom. Can’t wait to finish it and live a financially free life 😍

Through the first 10 pages or so, I was thinking. "This is great, straight to the point, no fluff!".. Then she started whining a lot, victimising women, "gender pay gap", "Handling your money is much, much harder for women".. And putting a downer on everything, And all this nonsense. I'd skip most of it, if I were you, just scan through to the useful bits.

I've said time and time again that nothing in school prepares us for "The Real World." We don't have a class to teach us how to save, why we should save and how blowing your entire credit card in one month is a bad idea (though most of us have already heard stories about why we shouldn't do that last one) "Manage Your Money Like a F#cking Grown Up" is the book we all need. It is filled with useful, practical advice on money, spending and saving. There are some lessons in this book that I have had to learn firsthand for myself and others that I won't have to thanks to Sam Beckbessinger's advice. This book is written in normal plain English so there's no big words that make no sense. This is like sitting down with your older, wiser, more financially mature friend to discuss what you should and shouldn't do with your finances. While this book is great for anyone who wants to take control of their finances, I strongly recommend it to people entering their twenties or those who are already in their twenties. Trust me, this book is everything we wish we knew about money.

Great book. Straightforward, similar to Barefoot investor, but much more relateable for 20/30's women. UK slant but most of it applies still.
